The Cause:

All profits from the Kennebec River Fest goes to The Plant Home, one of Midcoast Maine’s premier assisted living homes.  The Plant Home is the only home of its type in the country as it provides private apartments to all its residents, regardless of their ability to pay for their care.  In 1917 Thomas Plant built The Plant Home on the banks of the Kennebec River in Bath, Maine.  His motivation to serve our elders was apparent in his dedication statement, which has become the home’s vision.

planthome“This home is founded on my sincere belief that those who have lived honest, industrious lives and are without means or friends to care for them, have earned the right to be cared for.  Only through the labor and expenditures of others is it possible…”

Thomas Plant built the home and endowed with $400,000 to begin serving our elders in need.  The endowment currently contributes an average of $500,000 in resident subsidies annually.  The home depends of additional fund-raising efforts to continue to deliver the highest quality care to its residents.  The Kennebec River Fest is an event run by members of the Plant Home Board of Directors, who volunteer their time to further the mission.

And the great NEWS is that the Plant Home’s 27 Acres on the Kennebec River is the best place to throw a huge show like this.
